Michelmersh, Romsey, Hampshire

There are direct walks to the ancient woodland awash with Bluebells and other seasonal flowers. There are  five scenic walks, including the Monarch Way, named after the route Charles II took when escaping the Battle of Worcester in 1651. The Test Way is nearby, which is very popular walking / cycling route, and another footpath  leads to the local Saxon Church of St. Mary and  picturesque Michelmersh. For very keen walkers there are many other routes that lead to local villages and on to Winchester or Romsey. The River Test is very famous for its exceptional fly fishing and there are local fishing lakes.

Michelmersh is located in an area popular for sightseeing, the beautiful Cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury are within easy reach, Romsey just 3 miles away. Visit the 18th century Broadlands House, the former home of Lord Palmerston and more recently, Lord Louis Mountbatten. Open to the public in July and August, often hosting a range of craft shows and concerts. Nearby there are numerous tea rooms. The picturesque town of Stockbridge has  restaurants and pubs, serving local produce, there are art galleries, craft / gift shops and a traditional family butcher. The Houghton Fishing Club, the oldest fishing club in England can also be found at Stockbridge.

Mottisfont Abbey (National Trust) run various activities throughout the year, Fairy trails, popular Rose Gardens, Exhibitions etc. The renound ‘Sir Harold Hillier’ Arboretum is only 1 mile away.

For a family day out, if you enjoy the water, there is Romsey Rapids, New Forest Water Park.

Paultons Park with  Peppa Pig World is 15 minutes away.

The extremely popular New Forest National Park with its ponies and picturesque villages, water park, and extensive activities is less than 15 minutes by car.

Within  a short distance drive you can find Stonehenge, Weyhill Hawk Conservancy, The Army Flying Museum, Thruxton Races, Wilton House, Highclere Castle, Beaulieu Abbey and  Motor Museum, Longdown Dairy Farm and Marwell Zoo.

The beaches at Mudeford, Christchurch and Bournemouth are an hour or so away.

There are numerous pubs within 1 mile, which serve food. Romsey is just 3 miles away.
